Australia has many spectacular coastal destinations, although very few can boast the fame of the Shipwreck Coast and its iconic drive ‘The Great Ocean Road’. This scenic drives winds along the south-western coast of Victoria for some 243 km, taking in the rugged cliffs, tall bluffs, limestone stacks and windswept beaches, as well as passing through lush rainforest and eucalypts. This popular drive also pass through numerous coastal and seaside towns, villages and hamlets, making for some idyllic and interesting places to stop for an hour or two, and maybe even overnight or longer to fully explore the surrounding area.

Starting from Torquay, just south of Geelong, you can travel the entire route to Allansford, just east of Warrnambool. Check out some of the following locales, ranging from tiny hamlets to popular seaside resort towns.

Great Ocean Road Communities Attractions

Just south of Geelong is the start of a popular Australian tourism attraction and iconic drive known as the Great Ocean Road, that weaves along the coastline and through rural hinterland, all the way to Warrnambool. You can stop off or stay for a while at any one or all of the following communities along the Great Ocean Road, as well as some of the nearby places along this iconic Victorian scenic drive:
Great Ocean Road Small Group Eco Tour from Melbourne

Apollo Bay is just 6 km to the south and Lorne just 39 km in the opposite direction.
