Scamander - Cities, Towns and Localities
The coastal holiday resort of Scamander sits at the mouth of the Scamander River where it flows into the Tasman Sea. This picturesque location with miles of white sandy beaches and pristine crystal turquoise waters, is a draw card for those seeking a relaxed spot for a getaway, situated almost midway between St Helens and St Marys and close to the many East Coast main attractions.

The Scamander Conservation Area is a 405 ha wildlife retreat providing some great walking tracks. The Scamander Forest Reserve on the banks of the Scamander River offers some great recreational activities including boating, fishing and camping.

Scamander Attractions

Scamander Forest Reserve
• Located on the banks of the Scamander River, the reserve is popular for a variety of recreational activities. There are several BBQ and picnic facilities and makes a great spot for a day trip. Fishing is popular and there is a boat ramp located next to the jetty. If you are staying in Scamander and have a boat, you can leave the car behind and get to this reserve via the river.

Camping is also permitted at the Griffin Camping Area, working on a first come, first served basis. If you continue past the main camping site.

This reserve is also referred to as Trout Creek and can be accessed from the south end of Scamander by taking the Upper Scamander/Trout Creek Reserve turnoff.
