South Australia Tourism Drives

Following are some great South Australian tourism drives. Some listed touring drives cross state/territory borders, and with the extended drives you also have the option to just do part of the drive.

Explorer's Way - South Australia Touring Routes

Explorer's Way
• Web:
• Promoted as the Explorer's Way, is one of the great tourism drives connecting Adelaide, through the heart of Australia, to Darwin. This iconic drive is along the sealed Stuart Highway, that follows the route of the intrepid explorer John McDouall Stuart, who in 1862 became the first person to traverse the continent from south to north.

Whilst you can stay the trip from Adeliade, the Stuart Highway actually starts in Port Augusta, although that would mean you would miss out on some of the wonderful country towns in between.

Travellers also have the option to just do the South Australia side of the Explorer's Way, taking in and spending more time at some of the alternative detours along the route.

Additional information on Australia Touring Routes - Explorer's Way- Adelaide to Darwin or check out the South Australia section of the Explorer's Way.
