Overlander's Way
From Townsville to Tennant Creek, travellers can follow in the footsteps of our pioneers, who over 100 years have crossed the breadth of Queensland into the Northern Territory. It was our droving pioneers, who followed the same path with their vast herds of live cattle from the east Kimberley to the coast.

Today, tourists can experience this 1,550 km driving adventure, that links the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef with the heart of Australia's outback in the Northern Territory. Starting from either Townsville or Tennant Creek, the drive takes in the outback towns of Charters Towers, Hughenden, Richmond, Julia Creek, Cloncurry, Mount Isa and Camooweal (on the Queensland-Northern Territory border), and Tennant Creek.
