65 km northwest of Clermont lies Mazeppa a large park made
up of mostly gidgee and brigalow scrub that provides a
fabulous habitat for a large variety of native finches and
other bird species. The Plum Headed Finch and the Double Bar
Finch two rare species can be found here.
permitted but the park is mostly designated as a wildlife
refuge. There is no permanent water in the park and
vehicular access is not permitted. Camping permits must be
obtained before going into the park.
