Idalia National Park - Cities, Towns and Localities
A large park covering some 144000ha of mulga and eucalypt woodlands south west of Blackall in central Queensland and home to the headwaters of the Bulloo River. The rare yellow footed rock wallaby and the bridled nailtail wallaby call this park home as do many other birds and animals including wallaroos.

Getting to the park can be difficult and just about impossible during the wet season. Access is by 4WD only. Camping is permitted at Monks Tank 14km from the park headquarters, campers must be self sufficient due to the isolation of the park. Permits must be obtained prior to camping in the park. Emmet Pocket just north of Monks Tank provides for panoramic views over the northern section of the park.

The summer heat in the park can be unbearable the best time to visit is during the winter.

Contact the local Parks and Wildlife Service or visit the QLD National parks, marine parks and forests website. In addition to our listed online travel guide information, contact the local tourism visitor centre for your destination for more attractions, tours, local maps and other information.
