Frankland Group National Park - Cities, Towns and Localities
Group of five islands located just of the coast from Deeral about an hours drive south of Cairns. The largest island Russell Island is covered in rainforest and surrounded by coral reefs and white sandy beaches.

Camping is be permit only on Russell and High Island, permits must be obtained at least 2 weeks in advance as visitor numbers are limited. Contact the NPWS for booking information. All water and your own cooking facilities must be brought in as no visitor facilities are provided.

Diving and snorkelling are popular with day trippers and campers. Normanby Island offers great beaches and the snorkelling is easily accessible from the beach. Diving is better suited to Round Island.

The Island group is located 12 km from the shore all are part of the national park and the waters surrounding are part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Access is via private boat or charter. Day tours operate from Cairns.
