Welcome to accommodation Green Island, Queensland (QLD), Australia.
Island is a beautiful coral cay of about 15 ha, surrounded by magnificent
coral reef, and just 45 minutes from Cairns,
and first declared a
national park in 1937, with the surrounding waters then declared a
marine park in 1974.
Part of the magnificent Great Barrier Reef, this ancient coral cay is home to
some spectacular flora and fauna. There are over 120 species of native plants,
and spectacular marine life and coral gardens. The island attracts a fantastic
array of land, sea and migratory birds, with some 55 species found regularly on
the island. As well, Green Island is the only coral cay in the Great Barrier
Reef with a rainforest.
