Although Rock Wallabies are elusive creatures in the wild, they can sometimes be
spotted at some of the popular tourist attractions such as
Ormiston Gorge, and
People are asked not to feed these wild animals.
If you are not fortunate to
see Rock Wallabies, there is one place in Alice Springs where not only can you
see them, but you can also get up close to them as they come down from the range
to feed and drink.
The Heavitree Gap Outback Lodge use to be located at
the southern entrance to Alice Springs, the junction of the
and West MacDonnell Range.
Once offering accommodation and tavern/bistro, it also offered the popular
activity and attraction of the 'Wallaby Feeding' at sunset, with special feed
being available for
purchase from the Reception. The attraction is now review.
