Part of the sprawling Sydney metropolis, Sutherland Shire covers an area of approximately 370 square km, with boundaries including the Royal National Park, Port Hacking, Woronora River Valley, Georges River system, and Botany Bay National Park, as well as the many popular surfing beaches. Other popular locales include Bundeena, Cronulla, and Miranda.

With its close proximity to many of the south and south-western region of the vast Sydney metropolitan, it provides a great place to base yourself to visit the surrounding region.

From the Bush to the Beach- something for everyone on Australia Day
• Location: Cronulla Park in Cronulla • Blaxland Oval in Menai (Blaxland Road) • Miranda Park in Miranda (corner of Sylvania Road and The Kingsway)

• Cronulla Park is the centrepiece of the Shire's celebrations. The day promises to be great fun, featuring everything from the second Jane McGrath Classic Fun Run/Walk with a special Celebrity Challenge, demonstrations by the NSW Axeman's Association, cooking demonstrations featuring Aussie tucker with a modern twist through to Gumboot Bocce and a mechanical bull. From 7am to 10pm.

Menai will kick off the day with a "G'day BBQ" and will have plenty of carnival rides and roaming entertainment, not to mention a visit from Dora the Explorer, to keep everyone amused. From 3pm-8.45pm.

Miranda makes a debut this year as location, offering carnival rides, a display and demonstration by the Australian Defence Forc plus food, dance performances and plenty more. 11am-10pm.
All locations will finish off the day's festivities with a sensational fireworks display.
