On the southern outskirts of Sydney,
just 26 km from Wollongong CBD is the coastal town of Stanwell Park. As well as
spectacular coastline, cliff top views, and beaches, it also boast a world class
hang gliding site at Bald Hill, Stanwell Tops.
Stanwell tops is also a favourite tourist stop from which you can view the
spectacular "Sea Cliff Bridge" to the south, part of the famed Grand
Pacific Drive, a drive that is said to be equal to
that of the
Ocean Road in Victoria.
It is thought that Stanwell Park was named after the village of Stanwell on the
south side of London. Stanwell Park was also known by the Aboriginal name
"Little Bulli". Bulli meant "two mountains" and referred to those on each side
of the town.
