Located midway between the mountains and the south coast, Bombala is the largest town in the eastern Monaro region. It is an old town with interesting buildings, of which the most notably is the Masonic Hall and Library Institute on Caveat Street, the Court House, and some of the homesteads in the area. Bombala is also the heart of “Platypus Country”, that can be spotted throughout the region in the waterways.

Attractions include Platypus Sanctuary, South East Forests National Park, Endeavour Reserve, Railway Museum, and Lavender House. There is also trout fishing in the streams, and mountain biking in designated State Forest areas.

In addition to our listed online travel guide information, contact the local tourism visitor centre for your destination for more attractions, tours, local maps and other information.
