Terrigal - Cities, Towns and Localities

Terrigal Beach

Part of the Central Coast, Terrigal is one of the popular seaside resort locations, with the Norfolk pines along The Esplanade and its prominent headland known as ‘The Skillion’. This prominent headland with a  steep ocean facing cliff face, rises to a lookout area that is easily accessed by a grassy area leading up from the reserve.

Some of the most popular activities along this stretch of the Central Coast include swimming, surfing, boating, water skiing and fishing. For those seeking beach activity, there is 4 km of beach starting from Terrigal Beach and extending north to Wamberal Point.

There are also some great parks and wildlife attractions for the family at the nearby Australia Walkabout Park in Calga, the Australian Reptile Park and Wildlife Sanctuary in Somersby, and the Wyrrabalong National Park at The Entrance.

Check out our listing of Terrigal accommodation. In addition to our listed online travel guide information, contact the local tourism visitor centre for your destination for more attractions, tours, local maps and other information.

• Established in 1948 - by the late and great Eric Worrell, Australia's first naturalist, the park and wildlife sanctuary is regarded as one of the countries premier attractions. The Sanctuary is the only zoo in Australia committed to saving lives with a Venom-Milking Program in place for the past 50+ years, saving over 300 lives each year and being the sole supplier of a variety of venoms, which is used for all snake and funnel-web anti-venom in Australia.

The park is home to many Australian cuddly mammals such as the unique platypus, koalas, wombats, Tasmanian devils, echidnas, dingoes and of course friendly hand-fed kangaroos. It is also home to some of Australia's largest reptiles, such as a massive American alligators, giant tortoises and huge pythons.

Nestled in tranquil bushland with trickling streams meandering over waterfalls, visitors will be able to experience some of Australia's beautiful flora and the multitude of birds. There are full gas BBQ facilities, the Hard Croc Cafe and the Australiana gift shop.
Wyrrabalong National Park
• Located on the Central Coast of NSW, the park is in two parts, one on each side of The Entrance. To get to the north section go north from The Entrance via Wilfred Barrett Drive. To reach the south section of the park, drive along Bateau Bay Rd, which is off The Entrance Road.

Wyrrabalong National Park conserves the last significant coastal (littoral) rainforest on the Central Coast. Pounded by the ocean, the rocky cliffs alternate with sandy beaches. There are several lookouts from where you can enjoy the dramatic coastal vistas. The park has a network of walking tracks from which you can explore the varied landscape of the park, as well as a number of picnic areas to take a break.
